Strong by Elsa Pataky is a new book out on how to eat, move and live.
There is a brief introduction, and the book is divided into three sections: a strong mind, a strong body and a strong diet. Life is a balancing act, so focus on one small area of change.
The mind section covers setting goals, excuse busting, and rewarding progress.
The body section covers cardio, high intensity interval training (HIIT) and toning. There are some illustrated exercise circuits with three images per page, bullet point instructions and suggested reps. You may need a variation of fitness equipment, such as a resistance band, dumbbells, bosu ball.
The recipe section is divided into breakfast, light meals, dinner, healthy snacks, and drinks. Be tempted by watermelon and berry salad with ricotta and honey, leek and goat’s cheese omelette with cashew pesto, silverbeet and fennel salad with salted apple and tahini vinaigrette, millet seafood risotto. If you are feeling decadent look for the pan con chocolate, wild berry bites (using yogurt).
I’d like to try the tahini and maple cookies with goji berries, if only I could get access to a car.
Strong is a well-designed book packed with advice, recipes and exercises.
Strong is out in Australian bookshops now, available in paperback and ebook.
