Top Tips to Help You Keep Grey Hair Bright

Grey hair is something that happens naturally and is generally associated with getting older. In many cases, people try to hide the grey for as long as possible, even though this can be a time-consuming and expensive process. However, it is becoming increasingly popular to accept and even embrace grey hair.

Having grey hair doesn’t mean the end of looking good! You need to embrace your grey hair and recognize that it often looks flatter and duller than coloured hairstyles. But, with the right tip, you can get your grey hair to look bright and shiny all year round.

Clarifying Shampoo

Grey hair doesn’t actually exist! Your hair follicles have pigmentation in them, that’s the colour of your hair naturally. Over time the pigmentation is all used up. Hairs without pigment are white. But, when the hairs around them have pigmentation, the white hairs appear grey.

Of course, your hair is open to the environment, pollution, air contaminants, and even the sun can all influence the whiteness and brightness of your hair. That’s why you need to use a quality clarifying shampoo that will cleanse each hair follicle and allow it to shine, regardless of what color it is. In short, your hair will appear brighter.

Shiny Serum

Shiny or glossy hair looks fantastic. It actually happens when the light bounces off your hair. Of course, light reflects more easily off darker colors, making it harder to get that shine when you have grey or white hair.

However, add a clear serum to your hair and you’ll seal your cuticles, allowing the light to bounce off the resulting surface.

Many of the best serums available will restore and repair, ensuring your hair is in the best condition while it reflects the light.

Softeners

Another issue with losing your pigmentation is that the pigment softens the hair. That means that grey hair is more likely to look and feel coarse or wiry. You need to use softening products or even try keratin treatments. These will soften your hair naturally, allowing it to shine better and feel better. Each treatment lasts for several months and can actually save you time on getting your hair ready every morning. That’s generally a valuable bonus.

Platinum Highlights

One of the easiest ways to make your hair appear brighter is to add a few streaks of platinum blonde into your hair. These will lift the colour of your hair, making it appear brighter and almost glowing.

It can prevent you from embracing a granny grey and keep you looking young and fabulous.

The Right Hair Products

If you use hairspray or something similar to hold your hair in place then you need to change your technique because most hairsprays give a mat finish.

To restore shine, lift your hair and spray underneath sections. This will help to retain the style without flattening the look. It will retain its natural shine but still have the support it needs to look fantastic.
