The Murders at Fleat House by Lucinda Riley – is a cliff-hanging and utterly compelling crime novel
from the author of the multimillion-selling – The Seven Sisters series.
Fleat House is a small private boarding school at St. Stephen’s in deepest Norfolk. When one of its
pupils suddenly dies, the headmaster prefers to call the incident a tragic accident. The local police,
however, take a different view and treat the case as murder.
Detective Inspector Jazmine, “Jazz” Hunter returns to the Norfolk force, keen to leave her police career
in London for personal reasons. On arrival, she is asked to front the Fleat House investigation and does
so only as a favour to her old boss.
She is, however, happy to be reunited with the loyal Sergeant Alastair Miles. As she begins her enquiries
regarding the circumstances surrounding Charlie Cavendish’s puzzling death, further events are destined
to follow another perturbing turn.
Charlie it seems was an arrogant bully. Those around him had both the motive and the opportunity to
switch the drugs he took daily to control his epilepsy.
As staff at the school become more and more reluctant to cooperate with the police, Jazz soon has two
more leads to follow when a young pupil, Rory Millar, disappears and an elderly classics master dies. Are
they, however, only going to complicate the investigation further?
As the weather closes in and snow covers the landscape, another suspect goes missing! To add to the tension, Jazz realises it is time to confront her personal demons.
Already under pressure, a particularly grim discovery at the school, makes this the most challenging
murder investigation of her career.
Fleat House hides many secrets, shades darker than even Jazz could ever have imagined . . .
Beautifully written, and seriously suspenseful, this wonderful novel is an incredible tribute to Lucinda, who is so very sadly missed by her loving family, many friends and a multitude of fans.
