I decided I wanted to be braver. So I wrote down a list of 50 things I wanted to do. It wasn’t a bucket list because I wasn’t planning on dying anytime soon. It was a list things that would push me to try new things and get out of my comfort zone.
Bravery is a funny word. We associate it with acts of selflessness in natural disasters, extreme survival situations and wartime. My idea of bravery might be your everyday default setting. If you feel a sense of hesitation, which might be fear or another feeling, then it’s possibly something where you need a little dose of bravery or courage to commit to the activity.
To create your own year of the brave list brainstorm your ideas over a couple of days or a month. You can use my list as a starting point. Then you will want to cull out anything which you would never attempt (so a real tattoo is out for me). Delete anything which is too expensive, too far away or too time-consuming. Some of the activities you might have come up with are things you want to do but really aren’t that scary – these can go on one of your other to do lists.
