Peter Rabbit is a tongue-in-cheek fun film with our favourite makeshift family.
Bea is back painting and creating stories in her studio, with the newly married Thomas looking on and putting in his opinion. When she’s offered a book deal, she needs to learn to assert her rights.
Peter is upset after his been labelled as the naughty one. Adventuring out of the garden, he finds a gang of new friends in the underground of the city. But he needs to decide whether a life of crime is for him.
“I love these characters,” says director Will Gluck. “Peter makes a lot of mistakes, but always plows on – he always thinks he knows best. That’s what makes him a fun character to watch – 3 it’s always fun to see someone who drives forward without any worry about what the repercussions are. And yet, at the very end, he learns something about it. It’s such a rich world with so many stories to explore.”
For Gluck, the sequel became a chance to explore questions of identity. “It’s who you are versus who people think you are,” Gluck explains. “Just because people see you in a certain way doesn’t necessarily mean that’s who you are. Peter, Bea, and Thomas go through that journey in the movie.
Peter Rabbit 2 has plenty of laugh out loud moments, and if you enjoyed the first one you won’t be disappointed.
