Melt Brothers was inspired by the range of delicious comfort food on offer in New York’s alleyways. Owners Felix and Justin Kong decided to recreate the grilled cheese sandwich with a modern twist. They have succeeded with their licenced café tucked away in Gresham Lane in the Brisbane CBD.
Their most popular sandwich is the M.C. Cheesy which is generously packed with macaroni and cheese, maple bacon, chipotle mayo and cheddar cheese. I enjoyed this one but my personal favourite is the New Yorker with pastrami, sauerkraut, pickles, Rueben sauce, American cheese and cheddar cheese.
The sides are kept simple with tater tots, or the more popular option of loaded tater tots which are covered in cheese sauce, crispy bacon bits and spring onion.
Melt Brothers serve coffee from Fonzie Abbott and offer a range of craft beers, wines and soft drinks. There are vegan and gluten-free bread options. They also cater for small functions.
Recommended as a great spot for easy-cheesy-comfort food.
