We chatted with The Plant People about their boutique plant delivery company:
Tell us about The Plant People?
We are a family-owned business that has been in the nursery and plant industry for over ten years. As backyards get smaller and high-rises get taller we saw the need to bring the outside right to your door.
What inspired your passion for gardening?
The love of outdoors and creating a beautiful environment.
What are your top three most popular indoor plants?
- Elephant Ears
- Fiddle Leaf Fig
- Peace Lily (because it purifies the air)
What do you look for when choosing the right plant?
You have to choose your plant for the space you have, especially the light in your home – most plants prefer growing in a brightly lit room.
What’s your favourite plant?
Dragon’s Tail
Any tips for looking after houseplants?
Light, Water and Food. The three fundamentals. Like us each plant has different needs, research your specific plants requirements to help it grow happily and healthily.
What’s the one thing you wish everyone knew about house plants?
Don’t be scared and make sure you don’t drown it (monitor it with a Moisture Meter!).
What is your plant maintenance routine?
Watering Sundays. Each Sunday morning my plants and I head outside for a nice big drink and allow the water to drain before they come back inside.
How has your life benefited from gardening?
It’s made me more aware of the environment and how plants purify the air. We needed these green babies.
Why are plants so important in the world?
They create the air we breathe – we can’t live without them.
