Goodrich – Film review

19 November 2024 by Alexis Dallas Leave a Comment

Michael Keaton is a busy actor these days with a lot of extraordinary performances to his credit – Birdman, The Founder, Dopesick – sprinkled in amongst several Batman franchises. Goodrich can now be added to this list.

Keaton plays Andy Goodrich, a self-centred gallery owner who pays more attention to being a doting father second time around to 9 year old twins, then he did the first time around to his reluctantly forgiving, now 20-something year old daughter, Grace (Kunis).

That is until his wife checks herself into a 90 day rehab program and leaves Goodrich to deal with it. At the gallery, he hotly pursues a new artist who he hopes will help him pay the next month’s staff salaries. In doing so, he leans more and more on Grace, who sees first hand the bond Goodrich shares with the twins – one which she desperately wanted.

Grace is about to start a family of her own and must corral Andy’s frenetic energy in order to save her own. But can he put any one else’s feelings above his own?

Goodrich is a surprisingly moving film with Keating and Kunis both deserving stars.

Goodrich opens nationally on Thursday 21 November. Check your local guides for screening times.
