We recently caught up with Dhanya from VYB Active who kindly gave us an exclusive interview

Tell us about your latest launch

We launched in October 2017, after a year’s worth of research into the perfect pair of leggings. We never expected to be sold out within 2 months. We have been overwhelmed with the response to our tropical inspired leggings for women.

What motivated you to sell yoga wear?

With our activewear and yoga wear, I wanted to mix things up a bit, as I see so many women wearing plain leggings when they train in and out of the studio/ gym. I personally wanted to wear colourful vibrant activewear that made me feel happy when I wear them, which in turn motivates me to exercise.

What’s been the highlight of your career so far?

Selling out of the leggings within two months of launching.

What do you love most about what you do?

I use to be a lawyer in Sydney which is quite intense sometimes and now working on something I am passionate about is awesome… Plus I love wearing our leggings!

What’s your favourite yoga practice?

Depends on the day I have has. If it has been a big day with my three young kids, then I just want to zen out and breathe with Yin Yoga. If I’m feeling energetic I like to challenge my movements with Ashtanga Yoga. Sometimes I like to get my groove on and do Vinyasa Yoga.

Do you have any favourite must-have fitness accessory or tool?

Just my trusty yoga mat.

Can you describe a typical day?

Starts with an intravenous drip of black coffee! Then breakfast for the kids, daycare, beach with the dog, groceries, household stuff, pick-up, bath, dinner, then maybe a yoga class to end the night. In between all of these tasks,  I work on the business.

Who or what inspires you?

My three kids inspire me for an escape 🙂 My husband and the industry as a whole inspires me!

Do you have any predictions for the yoga industry?

I notice more and more people love doing yoga outside in the elements and I see more and more outdoor classes and retreats happening.

Do you have any plans for the future?

Keeping building the brand with the goal of being the “go-to brand for vibrant performance based activewear”.
