West End Markets is a lovely way to spend your Saturday morning. They are held weekly from 6am to 2pm.
It’s popular first thing with locals buying their fresh fruit and vegetables. I like to go before lunch time and then grab something to eat in the park before heading home with my purchases. You can listen to the eclectic mix of local and interstate musicians while you enjoy your meal.
You can also find stalls with meat, bread and baked goods, honey, milk and cheese, kombucha, almonds and nuts, marinated olives and deli food. You’ll have herbal tea and herbs and spices. You can buy hard to find Asian and specialist ingredients.
You can have a meal from one of the food trucks, including Rosti Revolution, Greek, Turkish Gozleme, Langos Hungarian garlic bread, falafels, Tibetan dumplings, Spanish paella, German Hut, and more.
To drink there is fresh orange juice and fruit juices, ginger beer, lemonade, Merlo coffee and other independent coffee carts.
You can browse menswear, kids and female clothing, jewellery, hats and baskets. You might to take home a pot plant, a bunch of fresh flowers or locally grown sunflowers.
The market stalls are located around the road of Davies Park (they used to be along the river). You can have a picnic in the park. If you have active children, they might like to kick a ball around the far end of the soccer field.
