Girls Trip is a hilarious story about four lifelong friends who travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival.
Ryan is a best-selling self-help guru and she seems to have it all. After being asked to present at the Festival, she invites her old university friends along for the weekend. The dynamic between the four main girlfriends (Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, Tiffany Haddish) feels genuine. The ‘Flossy Posse’ friends have their differences and lost contact over the last few years but they are soon back together.
There’s a reasonably decent storyline to follow along and as we ponder the ability of successful women to ‘have it all’.
This movie is full of bad behaviour – swearing liberally, dancing, drinking, fighting and drugs. It’s crass and inappropriate at times, but so damn funny. I was laughing throughout this movie, not just occasionally.
This film is similar to ‘Rough Night’ and ‘Bridesmaids’ but hands-down much better.
Girls Trip is a great movie to rekindle your silly side and have a good-hearted belly laugh.
