Dunkirk is a war film based on the event that occurred in May 1940 after Germany had advanced into France leaving the Allied troops trapped on the beaches of Dunkirk.
The film follows a couple of different storylines which keeps things engaging. The dialogue is kept to a bare minimum and we don’t warm to any one character. And yet, we are still barracking for them collectively. The sound effects of gunshots and bombs reverberate through your bones.
Dunkirk was written, co-produced and directed by Christopher Nolan. It’s hard to imagine what it would have been like in the situation, but staying alive is the main goal.
Harry Styles (better known as a singer from One Direction) makes an appearance.
Dunkirk is a solid survival film for people who like historical or war films.
