Love What You Do is the second book in the Crappy to Happy series by Cass Dunn. It promises simple steps to find meaning in your work.
Imagine how you would answer the question: ‘If you could do anything at all, what would it be?’
The chapters are:
- Start where you are
- Play to your strengths
- Make it meaningful
- Find your Flow
- Be true to you
- Cultivate positive relationships
- Be brave
- Create the right balance
- Do it your own way
- Find your calling
Cass discusses finding out your Character Strengths and Virtues developed by Professor Martin Seligman and Professor Christopher Peterson, and exploring the work of Marcus Buckingham and Don Clifton, authors of ‘Now Discover your Strengths’. You can find your superpowers by taking the MBTI and the finding out your DISC profile.
You’ll be encouraged to find your flow, which is all about being so completely absorbed in what you are doing that you lose track of time. A large part of the book is devoted to changing the way you think about your work and crafting a career that is satisfying.
Each chapter is short and interesting, with some pages only a paragraph long. There are some questions that you could answer as a journaling exercise.
