Cocaine Bear is a rocky ride with kooky characters and an out-of-control drug-fuelled bear.
It’s hard to believe this film was based on a true story and a bear ate 40 percent of its body weight in Georgia’s Chattahoochee National Forest.
There’s a mother looking for her daughter, a park ranger trying to impress her colleague, and a group of drug dealers trying to locate and retrieve the cocaine. When an ambulance is called and the police show up, not everything goes to plan.
With some healthy skepticism, I thought perhaps all the good bits appeared in the trailer. Fortunately, I was wrong. This comedy thriller has just the right number of laughs to scary jumps.
On a more serious note, this was actor Ray Liotta’s last completed film before his tragic death last year.
Cocaine Bear is outrageous and ridiculous, but boy it’s a whole lot of fun.
About Cocaine Bear
Inspired by the 1985 true story of a drug runner’s plane crash, missing cocaine, and the black bear that ate it, this wild thriller finds an oddball group of cops, criminals, tourists and teens converging in a Georgia forest where a 500- pound apex predator has ingested a staggering amount of cocaine and gone on a coke-fueled rampage for more blow … and blood. #CocaineBear
