Amsterdam is a tale of three good friends spanning eras and countries. It’s a comedic thriller about love, loyalty and adventure.
Burt Berendsen (Christian Bale) has returned from war to treat his comrades who were also injured. His friend, Harold Woodman (John David Washington) assists him in investigating the death of their old comrade.
However, events take a dark turn when they are accused of murdering a new client at the scene of an accidental car crash.
Amsterdam has all of the right ingredients and elements, but it just missed the mark. The film runs too long and some of the similar conversations are repeated.
“Harold, Valerie, and Burt find each other, and they have this really beautiful friendship,” explains Margot Robbie. “I’ve always believed that your friends are like the family you choose for yourself, and they absolutely have that kind of friendship.”
Amsterdam has its merits but it is confusing and laboured.
Release date 6 October 2022.
