The Wrath of Man is a clever action heist film. The storyline centres around a truck security guard (Jason Statham) who’s looking for revenge on the death of a family member.
Later we meet a bunch of ex-military men who decide to rob the depot. They are trained, armed and absolutely ruthless. So you can expect some blunt and aggressive scenes.
The story unfolds at a good pace sprinkled with ample grit and violence. Things hot up at just the right time. It’s all a bit somber but we’re clear on the end goal.
It’s missing some depth to the characters, female characters and the classic British one-liner wit we love from Guy Richie. This results in a classic shoot them up between the hero and the baddies.
Wrath of Man is a solid dark heist film featuring simmering Jason Statham in his prime.
Australian cinema release date: 29 April 2021.
