The TokyoTreat is a monthly subscription box containing authentic Japanese snacks and KitKats.
TokyoTreat promises seasonal, exclusive, and limited-edition Japanese snacks that are only available in Japan for a limited time like Sakura Pepsi, Japanese Sake Kitkats, and more.
It’s fun to open the box and see what you’ll get. Luckily there is a full-colour booklet explaining with colour photos what each treat is.
Each TokyoTreat box contains 15 to 20 full-size Japanese snacks. The box could include drinks, Instant ramen noodles, rare KitKat flavours, savoury snacks like chips, chocolate and sweets (candy) and bakery goods like cakes, cookies and pastries.

Inside the October TokyoTreat box
The October TokyoTreat box was Halloween-themed.
The booklet started by explaining how Halloween is celebrated in Japan. Then suggested a couple of Japanese horror movies you could watch while snacking. It made me want to travel there!
The box contained:
- Halloween Tohato Caramel Corn – fluffy and crunchy shapes
- Sakeru Gummy Halloween Apple – bright blue apple-flavoured strips that will gradually turn your tongue a different colour!
- Halloween New Moichi Taro – crunchy roasted mochi – these were good
- Purushu Jelly x Sparkling Grape Soda – an intense grape-flavoured soft drink with soft chunks of nata de coco jelly. It’s a unique experience!
- Crackle Panic Grape – grape-flavoured crackling candy (a bit like Wizz Fizz)
- KitKat Halloween sweet potato – a bag of mini-KitKats that taste like white chocolate
- Blue and green colour-changing gum
- Mini Monster Candy Strip – a pretty rainbow sour
- Tokyo Layer Loaf Maple Pumpkin – surprisingly soft and moist with flavours of pumpkin and maple
- Halloween Pizza Corn Snacks – fun pizza-flavoured balls
- Peyong ‘Squid Ink’ Yakisoba – noodles with bold umami and salt flavours, and an unusual black colour. There are handy instructions on how to make these 3-minute noodles in the booklet.
- Tirol Choco Madame Gelee – a bag of yummy chocolate squares with juicy raspberry gelee filling
- Sour Monster Gum – Chewing gum that tastes like a sour energy drink
- Halloween Fugashi – a classic Japanese snack bar that is light and crispy. It tastes of molasses and Okinawa brown sugar cane
- Umaibo Tonkatsu Sauce – another snack bar tasting like tonkatsu sauce
I tried some of the items at home, and then took some of the sweets to work. My colleagues enjoyed trying the sweet potato KitKat and sour popping lollies.
