Oktoberfest Brisbane

All our pretzels were crossed that this message would never see the light of day. But the way the crackling has crumbled, the unpredictability of these circumstances has caused us to make the toughest of decisions – to postpone The Only Oktoberfest Brisbane and The Only Oktoberfest Gold Coast until Oktober 2022.

They talk about decisions not being made lightly, but this one takes the Schwarzwälderkirschtorte {cake}. COVID-19 has brought about some of the biggest challenges this little Bavarian Village has ever faced in order to deliver an authentic German experience. Solutions were found for everything this pandemic presented – from a real Bavarian Oompah band that didn’t need to travel halfway around the globe, right through to traditional Bier brewed locally in accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law and using German ingredients.

But for now, it’s not to be. The health and safety of everyone, from patrons and partners to suppliers and crew has to come first. Every precaution was in place to deliver COVID safe experiences at both Festivals. However, given the ever-evolving situation and its continued impact on New South Wales and Victoria, and the risk this poses for Queensland, the Festivals cannot proceed as planned.

For patrons who have purchased tickets, their booking remains valid for the postponed date(s) without the need for exchange. Patrons can show their continued support for the Festivals and hold onto their tickets for 2022. Alternatively, patrons can choose to obtain a full refund or exchange their ticket for another date by contacting Ticketek.

Thanks to our loyal honorary Bavarians, Oktoberfest Brisbane 2021 was shaping up to be the best Festival yet with unprecedented numbers of tickets sold to date. It was on track for 35,000 festival-goers over six days of celebrations with live Oompah music, accompanied by fantastic Bier & the best German food this side of the equator.

Thanks to our new Bavarian family on the Gold Coast, the Festival was shaping up to be unlike anything festival-goers have ever experienced in the region. With a fantastic response from locals and thousands of tickets sold, this is what the Gold Coast wants and will get in 2022.

Our heartfelt thanks goes out to our valued partners, suppliers, crew and of course the Brisbane and Gold Coast German communities. Each and every one of you contributes to ensure both Festivals remain true to their Munich roots. It’s because of you that Australia’s biggest authentic German celebrations will come back bigger and better than ever in 2022.

Lovers of German culture will again unite at Oktoberfest Brisbane 2022 on 7–9 & 14–16 Oktober 2022 at the Brisbane Showgrounds, and Oktoberfest Gold Coast 2022 on 28–30 Oktober 2022 at the Carrara Sports Precinct

Festival-goers can look forward to linking arms and clinking steins again SOON! There will be eating, drinking, yodelling and dancing like never before! Until then, stay safe and raise a stein in knee-slapping anticipation of what Oktober 2022 will bring.
