We chatted with Ben King the Head Chef from Osbourne Hotel:
Tell us about the new menu at Osbourne Hotel…
The new Osbourne Hotel winter menu is an array of multicultural flavours and spices, brought together with perfect execution and passion.
Describe your style of cooking in a few words?
Bold flavours, nourishing, exciting and intricate.
How did you get interested in cooking?
As a child, my mum and grandma, Lilly were always in the kitchen baking or roasting something. I was always amazed by how these two women could feed a crowd with little or no effort. Food brings family together and can even silence the hungriest pack of youngsters.
What’s your favourite dish to cook at home?
My partner and I are both chefs and we enjoy cooking massive salads with marinated vegetables, different textures and pulses to accompany a good old fashioned roast.
What do you love most about what you do?
I love cooking or ‘Chefing’ as I like to call it, because is ever evolving. I love coming up with new and exciting flavour combinations.
Who or what inspires you?
I have a great group of Head Chef mates that all inspire me to do better and push harder within my career. I also draw a lot of inspiration from my parents who are always encouraging me to “hold in there” and work hard like they always have.
What’s next for you?
I don’t actually know? The Osbourne Hotel is a great environment and I always have an abundance of support from the team here! I am very happy and enjoy coming into work to create memorable experiences with our customers through food.
