We tested out a six meal EveryPlate box for two people. The meal kit subscription service is one of the lowest priced in Australia. On average each plate is just under $4.00.
The meal kit is a great way to try new cooking techniques and expand your dinner menu options. The ingredients are from Aussie suppliers and are locally sourced, grown and raised.
EveryPlate arrived in a large brown box with freezer bags. Each meal was clearly labelled. Simply take the meat and sensitive ingredients out of the cool pouch and place them in the fridge.
We tried Hoisin beef stir-fry with garlic rice, Mexican beef quesadillas with yogurt, classic chicken burger with fries, pork rissoles with roast vegetable medley, Persian style spiced chicken with roast vegetables and spinach and easy chicken parmi with pear salad.
Pros
- Easy dinner preparation for disorganised or indecisive people – with four step recipes
- Perfect for working couples and families
- Fresh vegetables and healthy meals
- The ingredients are in perfect portion sizes so you’ll have less waste
- You can order via the EveryPlate app
Cons
- While the packaging is mostly paper-based and compostable, there are quite a few single-use pieces.
- You need to stock up your cupboard with basic groceries and decide what to eat for breakfast and lunches.
- Do not cater for special dietary needs such as keto, gluten-free, paleo, vegetarian, low carb or vegan
You can cancel your plan in the settings or just skip the weeks when you are away from home.
