We headed to E’cco Terrace for the “Let’s do Lunch” menu as part of Good Food month 2019. You get two courses and a set glass of wine for $45. It ended up being an affordable way to enjoy 5-star restaurant food.
I ordered the crispy pork belly, parsnip, gala apple, black pudding crumble with crispy crackling! I was tempted by the freshly made potato gnocchi, gorgonzola, spinach and pine nuts. The wine was an agreeable glass of Church Road Chardonnay.

For dessert, I couldn’t resist trying the chocolate nemesis, walnut praline and white chocolate gelato. It’s has a bit of cult history and was invented by the River Cafe, so it’s a must-try. Think a cake that tastes somewhere between an intense chocolate mousse and a souffle.
I tried my dining companion’s strawberry and raspberry cheesecake, rose water sable and it was delicious too.

Philip Johnson’s e’cco bistro is located at Haven Newstead, opposite the iconic Gasworks on Skyring Terrace. The dining room is a lovely modern space with curved leather seating, American oak joinery, splashes of marble and travertine and brick floors.
Open for Lunch: Tuesday to Saturday 12 pm – 3 pm, and Dinner: Tuesday to Saturday 5:30 pm – late
Bookings are now available via online: www.eccobistro.com
