Isaac Carew grew up in a foodie family with a father who was a professional chef. His career from cooking took a turn when he became a model in his early 20s.
The book contains over 100 recipes which aim to be fresh and infusing food packed with flavours inspired from travels around the world.

The book is divided into ten chapters covering brunch, soup, salads, pasta and rice, meat, fish, vegan, snacks, desserts, sauces and dressings.
The Dirty Dishes is about cooking delicious, well-sourced food and not taking it too seriously. You need to be willing to get down and dirty in the kitchen – to try some new flavours, to make a bit of a mess and to enjoy every moment.

Be tempted by bake-me-up meatballs, dirty tomato and vodka soup, buttermilk pancakes with blueberry and chamomile compote, dirty lasagne, salt beef with potato latkes, herby prawn burger with lime mayo and cauliflower cakes.

For desserts there are recipes for silly syllabub, peanut butter and jam drop scones, idiot’s Eton’s mess and more. I’m hanging out to make dirty chocolate cake for my next birthday.

Each recipe has an explanation, serving number and ingredients list. The majority of the recipes are also illustrated with a full-colour photograph. There is a page dedicated to making pasta and lots of clear instructions. There is a handy index at the back.
