Brisbane Winter Sessions

22 June 2021 by brisbanista Leave a Comment

brisbane winter sessions

The Brisbane Winter sessions is an inaugural six-day music festival held in celebration of the city’s iconic live music industry.

The event runs from 5 to 11 August 2021. Look forward to headline acts such as, No Money Enterprise, Thy Art Is Murder, Ian Haug (ex-Powderfinger), Ben Ely (ex Regurgitator), Nina Las Vegas, Miiesha, Trophy Eyes and Last Dinosaurs.

The Winter Sessions will be held at popular music venues including The Zoo, Fortitude Music Hall, Ric’s Backyard Bar, The Triffid and The Brightside. There will be more than 30 free and ticketed events.

Winter Sessions Ambassador and ARIA award-winning artist (ex-George) Tyrone Noonan said the festival lineup has been eagerly anticipated. “For …those of us who’ve really missed our live music scene this past year, it’s safe to say the line-up will give us all exactly what we’ve craved, with dozens of unique, amazing artists across genres like pop, indie, country and metal – and the ‘cooler times’ we’ve all craved this winter,” he said.

“Whether you come for the industry legends like Ian Haug (ex-Powderfinger), or the latest artists like Last Dinosaurs or the local and emerging artists – there’s something for everyone,” he said.

Event Highlights

  • Fortitude Music Hall will feature Thy Art is Murder, Skin On Skin and Nina Las Vegas
  • Drag Night at The Zoo
  • The Triffid’s annual Brisbane Burger Fest taking over Stratton Street
  • Free live shows at Felons Barrel Hall with Miiesha, Sweater Curse, RVG, A. Swayze, Girl and the Ghosts
  • The Prince Consort Hotel will also pay homage to Brisbane’s greatest musician journalist, with the ‘Ritchie Yorke All-Star Gig’

“Ritchie Yorke’s the greatest hero of rock and roll to ever hail from Brisbane. While he never played an instrument, he was a global sensation with a massive influence in the music industry in Canada and America, having written biographies of industry legends like Led Zeppelin, Van Morrison and John Lennon. It’s an honour to celebrate his legacy,” Noonan said.
