5 Dogs is located in the centre of Brunswick Street Mall, Fortitude Valley. With bright yellow and black branding, it’s an easy venue to find. It is a popular pit stop after having a big night out as it’s open late.
They specialise in gourmet hot dogs – expect soft white buns and good quality meat. The menu is based around 5 hot dogs (hence the name). These are:
- German Brat – a bratwurst, fried onion and sauerkraut
- NYC Kransky – think pork
- Chilli Brat
- Vegan Brat – a beer brat style made with tofu
- Vegan Kielbasa
Other menu options include chip butty, chicken or beef roll with gravy. You can order extras on the side like potato fries, chilli fries, poutine, and onion rings.
The idea was to sell 5 different hot dogs. So that’s what we did.

5 Dogs usually offer a lunch special of a hot dog with a coffee, soft drink or bottled water. There are also vegan and gluten-free options.
The seating is limited to a couple of casual outdoor tables and chairs out the front, and benches with stools on the side.
Their tagline is: ‘get a dog in yah!’
