totally buf book review

Totally Buf is a six-week guide to becoming Buf – which stands for beautiful, unstoppable and fearless.

The Buf team is made up four women Libby Babet, Alicia Beveridge, Cassy Maynard and Sian Johnson. Each member brings a different perspective and skill set to the group.

The aim of the book is to step away from dieting and battling against your self-judgment. It’s a program “designed to help you fall in love with living an active lifestyle, shift the way you think about health and fitness, and build the kind of confidence and positive energy that comes from being part of an incredible community of like-minded woman.”

For each week, there is an overview, a mantra, then a couple of pages devoted to each topic, an optional meal plan and then a summary of the ideas. The book is packed with lots of bright colour and pretty pictures.

The six weeks cover the following topics:

  • Boost your energy
  • Curb cravings
  • Swap, don’t stop
  • Banish the bloat
  • Say yes to social
  • Live a BUF life

The book covers health and fitness like protein shakes, creating a movement culture, calories, sugar-free, eating mindfully, night walks, anti-inflammatory foods, healthy fats and take away choices.

The second half of the book is devoted to over 100 recipes. These are divided into breakfast, lunch, dinner and then finally sides, drinks, and snacks.

The three BUF elements are:

B – Beautiful – nutrient packed plant foods, vegetables and or fruits

U – Unstoppable – energy foods – quality proteins and or slow release carbohydrates

F – Fearless – fats and flavours that create happy hormones and healthy appetites

Be tempted by recipes like rainbow abundance bowl, chicken burgers with sweet potato chips, nutty granola, zucchini and turmeric soup and fudgy bean brownies.

Totally Buf would be a good purchase if you are ready to kick-start a new way of eating and need a boost of positive motivation.

Totally Buf is available in paperback and ebook.
