Here’s our list of the hottest food at the Brisbane Ekka. And by hottest, I don’t mean trendy. I mean made with red hot chilli – think habanero and jalapeno.
Country Harvest – 4 Very Hot Chilli Products
Country Harvest has a dedicated range of products called Chilli Harvest which includes 14 delicious sauces, pastes, chutneys, pickles and salsas. They are handmade in Maleny from local ingredients.
Crocodile Bite Habanero sauce which takes 2 minutes to reach its hottest point. It’s named because”It’s like a crocodile coming back to bit you, it has more flavour than expected in a sauce as hot as this!” A few drops are all you will need.
Their Australian Bush Fire Sauce matches Habanero chilli with a smoked flavour. This gives you a semi-sweet and spicy flavours perfect for BBQs.
Look out for Habanero Salsa, Jalapeno Gourmet Sauce and Chilli Paste and lots of other milder options including the best selling Date and Chilli Chutney.
Chilli Factory – 4 Hottest Adults Only Products
The Chilli Factory is home to the hottest chilli (chili) peppers in the world, the team grew the Guinness World Record winner with a Trinidad Scorpion Chilli Butch.
You’ll be glad to hear there is a sliding scale of heat with all of the products. The top four have an 18 to 14 out of 10 heat score. These include:
- Satan’s Spit – a hot chilli spray
- Reaper Pastes – made with the Guinness World Record Holder
- Devil’s Delirium – mega hot Jolokia Paste
Jim’s Jerky – Chilli
Jim’s Jerky might be the tamest one on this list. It’s made with topside beef minus the fat. It has a 7 out of 10 rating.
Byron Jerky – Devils Doo-Doo Beef Jerky
This beef jerky is made in Bangalow from free-range Aussie beef. It’s so hot it comes with an 18+ warning and you must consume at your own risk. Double the burn and experience the doo-doo. There are no added hormones, MSG free and no artificial preservatives.
Butch’s Smallfoods – Burners and Mettwurst
Butch’s Smallgoods are based in Waikerie, South Australia. They sell salami, hot sticks and hot pepperonis. Look out for the chilli coated Mettwurst and the chilli coated burners.
