The Aftermath – Film Review

The Aftermath is a set after the end of the war in Germany, with a love triangle set up between the three main characters.

Rachel Morgen (Keira Knightly) is grieving her son’s death, while she tries to reconnect with her husband, Lewis (Jason Clarke). He has been absent working as a British colonel. Now he is attempting to rebuild Hamburg and keep the peace.

The couple have taken over a grand home and now co-live with the previous owners, including a German widow (Alexander Skarsgard) and his teenager daughter.

Although the affair seems a little unlikely, there is much to like about this film. The house is simply stunning and I adore the costume design.

The film is based on the Novel The Aftermath by Rhidian Brook.

As a period drama, the storyline of The Aftermath is a winner, and fortunately it isn’t as predictable as you might be expecting.
