Shazam! Fury of the Gods – Film Review

The team from Shazam are back with Fury of the Gods. A group of teenagers are led by Billy Batson, who can transform into adult superheroes.

The sequel takes it up a notch. The story is more interesting, and the CGI effects are on full display.

All the main characters get some airtime. The dialogue can be light-hearted and innocent at times, and a bit cringe at others. But there were some funny moments.

The three Daughters of Atlas arrive seeking revenge and want to reclaim the power of the gods. We follow their attempts to retrieve a golden apple from the Rock of Eternity and convince the wizard to fix a broken staff.

Of course, there are roadblocks along the way with a wooden dragon and some ugly mythical creatures. It all culminates in an epic CGI battle as the finale.

I do wonder if the teenagers will be young enough to play these roles in another sequel. Perhaps they might have to stay in their adult superhero forms if they return.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is a solid superhero sequel with lots of sparks.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.
