The Man is a film about a celebrity artist Simon Brahe (Soren Malling) who’s life becomes upturned when his estranged son Casper (Jakob Oftebro) shows up.
Modern art is the main focus of this movie but the rivalry between the two artists tightens its grip as the storyline progresses. Casper happens to be a well-known underground street artist by the name of The Ghost. Simon starts to feel threatened by his son and his motives for showing up out of the blue. His relationship with his wife and younger muse are tested.
The majority of the film is set in a large warehouse slash house. At times, it feels like I am watching a play. Only an artist could get away with wearing silk PJs all day.
The Man is going to appeal to people who like satire and modern art.
The Man is showing as part of the Scandinavian Film Festival.
Danish and Norwegian with English subtitles.
Directed and written by Charlotte Sieling and starring Søren Malling, Jakob Oftebro, Ane Dahl Torp, Søren Pilmark.
