Mad Millie’s Raw Cacao Chocolate Kit Review

Mad Millie’s Raw Cacao Chocolate Kit contains everything you need to get started in making plain raw chocolate.

I made my first batch of plain chocolate bars which took approximately 30 minutes. I placed them in the fridge to set. They were ready in around 3 hours. The chocolate was tasty, but on the bitter side due to the coconut sugar.

The instructions were easy to follow and there’s even a video you could watch. I didn’t end up using the wraps and labels, but these would be handy if you were giving the chocolate away as gifts.

The second batch was quicker to make. I tasted the cacao butter and I was surprised it wasn’t that great by itself.

Handy tip – water is the enemy of chocolate

The box contains:

  • Raw organic cacao butter
  • Raw organic cacao powder
  • Organic coconut sugar
  • Chocolate bar silicon mould
  • Chocolate wraps and labels

Additional kitchen equipment you will need:

  • Bain-marie (water bath made from two stacked pots or a saucepan)
  • Baking dish or a tray

There are lots of other recipes in the booklet. Be tempted by milky or mylk chocolate (335), Island Bliss truffles, chocolate truffles, velvet chocolate mousse, and raw chocolate brownie.

About Mad Millie

Mad Millie is a young company with its origins in the beautiful land of New Zealand. Built by people with a passion and love for all things delicious and handcrafted, Mad Millie has been designed to help you find the joy in homemade foods, and bust the myth that good, quality food should be left to the commercial guys!

We give you the tools, specialised ingredients and know-how so that you can create quality ‘fresh as can be’ food, know exactly what’s gone into it, and create something you feel very proud of.

We’re famous for our cheese-making kits which allow you to make an array of gourmet cheeses such as feta, cheddar, halloumi, and mozzarella – just like the artisans, but have since branched out into all types of gourmet, artisan and health type foods including artisan-style butter, sauerkraut and kimchi, coconut yoghurt and even vegan cheese. The philosophy of our kits is always to make it as easy as possible, minimise unnecessary nasty ingredients and processing, and help you have a little bit of fun reconnecting with food in the kitchen and creating something exactly how you like it. https://www.madmillie.com/
