After a long hard week at work, you might like to unwind with a beer shower or wine bath.
You’ve probably seen those unrealistic pictures of pretty young ladies having a glass of wine overlooking some jar-dropping beautiful spa locations overseas. They are designed to push all of our envy buttons. Well here’s how Aussies can recreate the experience at home on a budget.
How to Have a Beer Shower
A beer shower is a simple concept of drinking a can of your favourite beverage while having a shower. It’s rumoured to be how tradies unwind after a hard day of labouring. You can open a can of cola, or beer or even a can of wine these days. It’s your house and your rules.
If you enjoyed your first beer shower, then you might like to invest in a dedicated beer holder. The silicon cup sticks to your tiles or glass. You can also use it to hold any other bibs and bobs you might need. Don’t forget you might need a bottle opener, or just use the silver magnetic one that’s on your fridge.
If you want to take your beer showers up a notch, then you can alternate between hot and cold water (Wim Hof style).
Some enterprising Swedes have come up with a dedicated shower beer by craft brewery PangPang.
If it’s been an extra tough day, week or year, then you might like to try a wine bath.
How to have a Wine Bath
Rather than chewing your friend’s ear off with your bitching and whining, why not take a wine bath?
You might need to prep your bathtub first by ditching some of the beauty bottles (the corner of the floor is fine). Put your razor in a spot where you can easily reach it, near your soap or liquid body wash.
Pre-plan any other beauty things you might need to do. There’s nothing worse than having to get out of the bathtub to help someone find a lost sock or needing to answer the phone and grab a towel off the rack mid-soak.
I like to use magnesium Epson salts – but you can go the extra mile with a couple of drops of essential oils. I highly recommend the Amazing Oils Magnesium range.
If you want to take your bath to the next level, you can splash out on a container of Aalgo organic seaweed. I warn you – It’ll make your bath water look like a dirty creek. But I can assure you, that soaking in a seaweed bath has healing and health benefits. Seaweed is the world’s number one treatment for skin conditions and it’s a bit like bringing the smell of the ocean home.
You might like to go with bath oils, bath bombs or bubble baths. I try to avoid these as I don’t like cleaning the bathtub afterwards. But it’s your bath and your rules.
Hop in your bathtub, let the crap and stress of the day soak off your body and sip on your glass of wine. Even if it’s from a goon bag – I’m not going to know and judge you. Mocktails in your best glasses are acceptable.
If you can’t be bothered wasting water on a bath, then a simple foot bath is great for releasing tension in your feet. I find one of these helps me sleep better at night.
What you do after a beer shower or wine bath is your private business. I don’t need to know or hear about it.
Disclaimer: We don’t recommend eating your breakfast or biscuits in the shower or bath.
