Halloween is growing in popularity in Australia, with one in five getting into the spooky spirit. To save money, many Aussies are hosting at-home celebrations.
Halloween Witches Fingers Recipe
Cook time: 40 mins
Ingredients
- 250 g butter
- 1/2c sugar
- pinch of salt
- 2 1/3c flour
- 1 packet whole almonds skin/skinless
- 1 jar Strawberry jam
- 1 piping bag
Method
- Place butter, sugar and salt in a mixer with paddle attachment. Mix on medium speed until pale.
- Turn the mixer down to level 1 and mix the flour in gently until barely combined.
- Place dough on a floured surface, form a log and use extra flour if necessary.
- Cut dough into equal portions to form small balls
- Shape each ball into a long skinny finger. Form knuckles in the middle with extra dough and use a fork to make indents for wrinkles (ref: picture)
- Place cookies onto a lined baking pan
- Make an indent on one end of the cookie, pipe in a small blob of jam and press an almond into the jam
- Preheat the oven on convection, fan force at 140c. Bake for 35 – 40 minutes
- When done, leave the oven door ajar with cookies inside to cool down for about 15 minutes
