2023 French Festival is Back

20 July 2023 by Alexis Dallas Leave a Comment

Le Festival returns with a vibrant new location, embracing the spirit of France in Brisbane!

Get ready to immerse yourself in the colours of Bleu-blanc-rouge as Le Festival, the ultimate celebration of everything French, makes its highly anticipated comeback to the cultural scene starting tomorrow through to Sunday. After a challenging three years, the festival is back and ready to ignite the hearts of Brisbane’s French, Francophone, and Francophile communities.

This year’s Le Festival will take place in the picturesque Victoria Park/Barrambin, an expansive inner-city parkland, setting the stage for a remarkable experience. The festival promises a weekend filled with family-friendly activities, reviving cherished favourites such as live and roving entertainment, a French market, a French bar, merchandise, raffles, and a few delightful surprises yet to be unveiled.

Le Festival President, Adrien Docarmo, expressed his elation at returning to a full-scale event and embracing a new chapter in a fresh venue. Over the past three years, the team has diligently offered smaller events to stay engaged with the community, but the absence of the main event has been deeply felt.

“It is amazing to be so close to that light at the end of the tunnel,” Mr Docarmo stated, reflecting on the challenges faced in the post-COVID period.

While Le Festival 2023 may have a lighter format compared to pre-COVID years, it will retain the same passion and spirit that has always defined the festival. The primary focus remains on showcasing the very best of French artistry and savoir-faire, offering an authentic French cultural experience to all attendees.

“We will bring back the crowd-pleasers, and add a few exciting elements to create an unforgettable French celebration,” assured Mr Docarmo. Moreover, the festival will begin with a ‘soft launch’ on Friday, featuring live entertainment, food, and drinks, and entry will be free for all. On Saturday and Sunday, the festivities will continue with a bustling market to enhance the French experience.

For Le Festival 2023, the organizing team has partnered with City Parklands, and they are thrilled to establish Victoria Park/Barrambin as the festival’s new home for this year and beyond. Gratitude was extended to the Brisbane City Council and City Parklands team for their support in bringing the event to this iconic venue.

“We are so grateful for the opportunity to host Le Festival in Victoria Park/Barrambin, and to revive the Le Festival that we all cherish,” Mr. Docarmo expressed his appreciation.
