Arctic Justice is a computer-animated comedy film co-written and directed by Aaron Woodley.
In the small town of Taigaville in the arctic circle, Swifty the Arctic Fox (Jeremy Renner) longs to become a Top Dog courier for the Arctic Blast Delivery Service like his hero, Duke (Michael Madson) the husky. The only work he can get, however, is on the package sorting line, where he becomes good friends with PB (Alec Baldwin) the overanxious polar bear and Lemmy (James Franco) the crazy albatross.
Needing to prove himself to his abrasive boss, Magda (Anjelica Houston), a caribou with a Russian accent, he hijacks one of the delivery sleds. He must take a mysterious package to a hush-hush location, which naturally arouses his suspicions. Upon delivery of the package, he realises that all is not as it seems. He has discovered the hidden fortress of the evil Otto Von Walrus (John Cleese) and his army of eradicator puffins.
Swifty questions his friend, love interest and brilliant engineer, Jade (Heidi Klum) a red fox, about the parcels she sends.
He also visits two conspiracy theorist otters, Leopold (Omar Sy) and Bertha (also voiced by Heidi Klum), in their hide-out. He finds they are using their ‘spycam’ equipment to watch the blubbery monster in his fortress.
Between them, they discover the walrus’ villainous plan to drill beneath snow, ice and rock to release ancient gas that will cause global warming and melt the arctic ice cap. In the ensuing chaos, Otto plans to become the supreme leader of the planet.
Can Swifty and his friends thwart their arch enemy and save the world?
The Grandchildren (ages 5 and 8) loved this movie. Their favourite character was Jade, who they praised as fearless and they found Swifty’s method of delivering the mail very exciting. They also loved the puffins, as they thought them cute, even though they were the bad guys. They remarked that PB was a very good character and a great friend to Swifty. Summing up, they found the movie, “thrilling, scary, funny and happy” and gave it 4 stars.
The adults enjoyed it too – the ‘hidden’ jokes, fast and furious action and the wonderful voice of John Cleese, who excelled as Otto Von Walrus. Do take your younger relatives to see it!
Arctic Justice is in Australian cinemas Thursday 7th November 2019.
