When She Was Good by Michael Robotham, the new heart-stopping psychological thriller from the Number One bestselling author of The Secrets She Keeps and The Other Wife. This is the second fast-moving novel in the Cyrus Haven series, following the Edgar-award nominated Good Girl, Bad Girl.
Six years ago a terrified young girl was found in the secret hideout of a house where a heinous murder had taken place. She was so traumatised that she wouldn’t or couldn’t tell her rescuers her name, age or where she came from. She became known as Angel face.
Forensic psychologist, Cyrus Haven, who is fighting his own demons, is put on her case, but even he is unable to break her silence.
When events take a turn for the worse, it is realised that corrupt and powerful individuals are hunting for Angel face and intend to kill her. To protect her identity she is given the name Evie Cormac and hidden away in Langford Hall, a secure children’s home.
But Cyrus is still seeking answers and, despite Evie’s warnings not to meddle, he begins to follow various leads that rattle the cages of the people who continue to search for Evie, the final witness to their atrocities. Unwittingly he is leading them straight to her and putting them both in danger.
Can they both survive retribution if the truth is revealed?
Once again Robotham has produced another roller coaster ride of a literary journey. He never disappoints the avid crime addict.
Good Girl, Bad Girl follows the broken characters, Cyrus and Evie, in their heart-wrenching efforts to redeem the past and others who have become embroiled in the corruption, many through no fault of their own. The lucky ones have managed to escape into anonymity, but Cyrus must track them down to discover the truth as they all have a story to tell.
Despite attempts to do so by those who are guilty, crimes committed in the past can never be fully erased and Cyrus is determined that they will be brought to justice.
Be prepared to read this amazing novel in one sitting. I can guarantee that you won’t be able to put it down until you learn of their fate. A must read for 2020!
