When One of Us Hurts by Monica Vuu – is set in the small coastal town of Port Brighton, which has its own ways of dealing with the evil, the foolish, the misled, and there is never an exception!
In fact – Port Brighton hates outsiders!!
Things begin to fall apart, however, after, on the same tragic night, a baby is abandoned at the foot of a lighthouse, and a drunken teenager is drowned in a turbulent sea.
Livvy is one of the insiders! She makes sure that she keeps up-to-date with the goings-on in town, meanwhile keeping tabs on her older brother. What is damaged inside him, and why has this happened?
Marie is one of the outsiders. She was lucky enough to escape from Port Brighton and build a new life. She can’t, however, forget that life-changing night at the lighthouse. It altered her family forever.
Constant tittle-tattle fuels the many rumours. Tensions between the townsfolk break the trust and fray the bonds that keep the Port Brighton inhabitants together.
Will the disarray disclose the reality regarding much more than the two deaths?
An intriguing twisting, turning narrative revealing the darker side of living in a small town where almost everyone is suspect. It is difficult to know where evil lies and whose lives have been broken in the past.
A tale that will lead the reader on a twisted path and keep them on tenterhooks until the very end!
A thrilling must-read for 2023!
