If You’re Bored with Watercolour Read This Book by Veronica Ballart Lilja – Book Review
If You’re Bored with Watercolour Read this Book is a beautiful full colour illustrated book on creating art which you can be pleased with. The book is written by artist and illustrator Veronica Ballart Lilja and her work is really inspiring.
Perhaps what I love about watercolour the most is that it doesn’t have to be perfect.
The first half of the book covers sections of basic art techniques like colour wheel, palette, types of paint, types of paper and brushes. There is a great section covering mixing watercolour with other media including pencil, Chinese ink, oil pastel, pastel, watercolour pencils, charcoal, and embroidery.
You can experiment with creating textures and untraditional materials and objects. Think comb, toothbrush, salt, bleach and liquid mask.
The second half of the book covers 25 doable tutorials for still-life, cityscape, food, animals, nature and fashion projects.
The book is suitable for everyone from beginners to professional watercolourists and painters.
If You’re Bored with Watercolour is a great addition to an artists bookshelf.
If You’re Bored with Watercolour Read this Book is available from your favourite book store in paperback and ebook.
