Set in Rome, Marco Giallini, Vincenzo Salemme and Giuseppe Battiston star as three friends and brothers-in-law, Arturo, Antonio and Sergio, confronted with the same problem.
The men’s happy and peaceful life is upended when they learn who their daughters are dating: Valentina, after leaving her fiancé on their wedding day, is now dating the free-spirited girl Alex; Marta’s boyfriend is Simone, a troubled and reckless rapper, and Sara is ready to leave for the US with photographer Luigi, her father’s former womanising schoolmate.
Furious with the three girls and convinced that their partners are completely unfit for such perfect daughters, Arturo, Antonio and Sergio decide to join forces in order to hinder their relationships – sometimes at quite extreme costs. As they plod their way through each of their hair-brain schemes, they look to lose more than just their daughter’s chosen partners.
The characters look outdated in these post #metoo times, and their change of heart comes a little too swiftly. But there are some humorous moments at their ineptness in executing each of their schemes.
Three Perfect Daughters has its Australian premiere at the 2021 Italian Film Festival at participating Palace Cinemas and is now showing. Check your local guides for screening times.
