The Sheep Detectives is a fresh twist on the classic whodunnit” genre but with sheep at the heart and centre of the story.
Shepherd George (Hugh Jackman) spends his days looking after a flock of sheep on his English farm. He unwinds by spending his nights reading them detective novels.
When an incident occurs on the farm, the sheep have to take matters into their hooves. They start investigating the human suspects and follow the clues.
Turns out the sheep were actually paying close attention. But some of them make better detectives than others. It is a witty and heartwarming tale that proves you should never underestimate a sheep.
This movie uses clever humour that appeals to both kids and adults. The animation and live-action elements blend beautifully. The voice actors are a diverse group that works well together.
The mystery itself is well-paced. You will find yourself trying to solve the crime alongside the woolly detectives. It is a “new breed” of mystery that feels original and fun.

The Sheep Detectives is an unexpectedly heartwarming film with depth and charm. Highly recommended.
