We have started tasting some of the Australian berry sours at our local bottlos. Here are our thoughts.
Brouhaha Brewery – Strawberry and Rhubarb Sour
Brouhaha Brewery has made a strawberry and rhubarb sour. It is made using Maleny Dairies natural yogurt for the souring culture. Then locally grown strawberries and rhubarb are added during the secondary fermentation. This results in a light pink colour. Dry finish with strong berry flavours. Made in Maleny. 4.2% ALV.
Mr Banks Brewing Co – Strawberry Parfait
A pleasant tart and creamy kettle sour. This sour is brewed in Seaford, Victoria 6.9% ALV. https://www.mrbanksbrewing.com.au/
Mercury – Crushed Raspberry
A lovely well-balanced raspberry cider. Look for the black can with pink trim. Made in Hobart with real raspberries and juicy apples. 8.2% ALV. https://www.mercurycider.com.au/
Sailors Grave Brewing – Wild Strawberries
This kettle sour is brewed with fresh Australian grown strawberries, cream and hints of vanilla. It was inspired by the PNAU song, ‘Wild Strawberries’. This bewed by Sailors Grave Brewing in Victoria. 5% ABV. http://www.sailorsgravebrewing.com/
