Chicago – Review

7 January 2024 by Alexis Dallas Leave a Comment

Chicago is one of those musicals that has it all - sex, murder, debauchery, a mostly scantily-clad cast, and a suite of toe-tapping songs. Chicago is set amidst the decadence of the 1920s. The story focuses on Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the … [Read more...] about Chicago – Review

Cinderella the Musical – Review

A combined team effort lead by a charismatic conductor Carlos Kalmar and dazzling violist Arabella Steinbacher. The first piece was an Overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Felix Mendelssohn. The highlight was imagining fairies dancing in gardens represented by fast-paced violins. … [Read more...] about Bard and Beyond – Queensland Symphony Orchestra – Review

Jasper Jones – Queensland Theatre

5 August 2018 by Peter Gray Leave a Comment

A re-staging of the Melbourne Theatre Company Production, Jasper Jones has arrived in Brisbane to entertain audiences until the 18th August 2018. Inspired by Harper Lee's classic To Kill A Mockingbird and the cult coming-of-age film Stand By Me, Jasper Jones is at once shocking, confronting, joyous and bittersweet as it details the 1965 summer where bookish teen Charlie … [Read more...] about Jasper Jones – Queensland Theatre
