The Australian ‘Rat Pack’ are ready to jazz up the Brisbane Festival this year with Swing On This, an hour-long musical experience dedicated to the finest tunes the big band genre can deliver.
Brisbane’s own Luke Kennedy (runner-up of The Voice), theatre legend Michael Falzon (We Will Rock You), star of stage and screen Ben Mingay (Hacksaw Ridge), and So You Think You Can Dance judge Matt Lee make up the swinging quartet who deliver their unique takes on hits from artists ranging from Michael Buble to INXS by way of Frank Sinatra and John Farnham; even The Proclaimers’ classic “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” gets the treatment!
Performing a variety of crowd-pleasing favourites as both an in-sync group and in their own solo turns, and in Lee’s case a song AND dance number, Swing On This updates the classic sound of jazz for a contemporary audience without sacrificing the song’s original soul.
Swing On This is currently playing at the Courier-Mail Spiegeltent through to the 11th of September 2019 as part of this year’s Brisbane Festival partnered with Treasury Brisbane, The Courier-Mail, South Bank Corporation, South Bank Parklands, Aruga PR and The Spaghetti House Trattoria.
