Predator – Badlands follows on in the theme for Dan Trachtenberg’s Prey and the Predator universe.
It is set in the future with a range of unusual characters. The remote planet is covered with dangerous plants and creatures, including a dart-shooting flower field.
We follow a younger Predator outcast (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) who begrudgingly allows Thia (Elle Fanning) to join him. She’s a humanoid robot who’s lost her legs.
It’s not gory nor jump of your seat scary, but it held my attention throughout. The baby monster could have been cuter, but maybe that’s the point.
Together, the unlikely team look for revenge and soldiers through sibling stand-offs.
Predator – Badlands is a surprising visual feast that’s worth a cinema visit.
