Ploughman is a laid-back suburban bar tucked away in Alderley. The décor is modern with the two owners building the majority of the furniture themselves. The inside is cosy but there is also an outdoor courtyard.
There is a regular rotation of local and Australian craft beer on tap. The bar is also stocked with bottled and canned beer, boutique wine and small-batch spirits.
The menu is small but the star is the Ploughman’s board which includes a weekly selection of meat, cheese, crusty bread and house-made fermented pickled vegetables. Alternatively, you could try the deluxe cheese board or trio of chocolates from Couverture and Co, both with dried fruit. A grilled gruyere cheese sandwich or toasted pastrami could hit the spot.

We enjoyed our pickle party, which is a platter of freshly fermented pickled vegetables.
Look out for specials and food trucks on their social media accounts.
There are some board games like Jenga and Scrabble.
Ploughman is the perfect place to hang out with friends on the weekend.
Functions are welcome.
Tip – The spot is within walking distance of the Alderley train station and bus stops.
Open 6 days.
