Love is in the air in the coastal town of Seafront Sands. The mysterious appearance of a young woman (played by Allira Jaques) washed up ‘starkers’ on Mim Beach turns the sleepy town into a tailspin.
Named Mim, after the beach where she’s found, the young woman has a profound effect on an ensemble of entertaining local characters : a hard as nails local councilwoman (played by Barbara Hastings), her retired Naval Captain brother Roy (played by John Jarrett); a grieving widow running the local cafe (played by Clare Griggs), a sensitive policeman afraid to pop the question (played by John Harding); and Harrison (played by Mitchell Hope), a handsome young man who runs a dating agency with Emily (played by hilarious Steph Tisdell), his sassy assistant. Emily’s
It’s the celebration day of Seafront Sands’ Bicentennial, with developers circling, and many of the seemingly happy townsfolk lost in love.
When Mim makes a particularly strong connection with Harrison, it looks like a match made in heaven, but big secrets revealed catch Harrison off guard and off kilter.
Mim has the ability to extract their innermost thoughts and anxieties, with little effort at all. The sometimes over-exposed dialogue is saved by comical performances of the supporting cast to keep the momentum going. Special mention is deserved of Jacob Barn as Magnum PI-inspired Officer Doug who will fall under the bewitching spell of Emily. So sit back and enjoy the environs of this desirable coastal haven and its characters.
