Limbo Unhinged is a non-stop amazing show packed with modern acrobatics, fire twirling, sword eating and lots of hot bodies.
This Strut & Fret’s performance is billed as an international circus (no animals) meets cabaret. There are 6 main performers and 2 musicians playing live – however, the team members swap roles and are incredibly multi-talented. Just try keeping track of how many instruments they play!
The cast features sword swallower Heather Holliday, dancing sensation Hilton Denis, superstar aerialist Marco Motta, hand-to-hand experts Charlotte O’Sullivan and Nicolas Jelmoni and award-winning acrobat Remi Martin Lenz.
There is a slight change in mood with each new song but it’s always upbeat, energetic and pulsating. Sxip Shirey is the maestro and composer, who is joined at the back with Sydney musician Mick Stuart. The crowd was clapping along, gasping in shock and giggling.
I was pleasantly surprised by the tap dancing and pole dancing – it’s not really like anything I’ve ever seen before. (Aside – how do I buy one of those bendy poles for home?)
Tip: Line up early as seats are not allocated. There is a small bar inside but it’s recommended you grab a drink beforehand.
Brisbane Festival Artistic Director David Berthold said Limbo Unhinged was bigger, bolder and more seductive than the original (Limbo).
“Limbo was a runaway hit at Brisbane Festival in 2014, wowing capacity crowds at the Spiegeltent night after night,” Berthold said.
“Three years on, the exhilarating party continues, with Strut & Fret’s trademark sexiness and sizzle in overdrive in this scintillating new show.
“For those who like their entertainment exotic, erotic, and more than a little unhinged, The Courier-Mail Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent is the only place to be this September.”
