We recently caught up with Abby Coleman from HIT105 Breakfast Radio, who kindly gave us an exclusive interview.

Describe your style of hosting in a few words

Constantly oversharing but it’s no different to what I would do if I met someone on a bus. I love a chat

How did you get interested in radio?

I grew up with the radio always on and then started driving black thunders (promotional cars) when I was 18 and over the years went in and out of radio until I knew it’s what I really wanted to do and then had my heart set on doing breakfast radio so pushed to take any opportunity I could.

What do you believe makes a good radio host?

That is so different for each person but honestly would be one – people hate bullcrap these days.

What’s your most memorable on-air experience?

So many but just completing the 27-hour show locked in the studio with Matt and Stav the whole time whilst Facebook living would be up there.

What’s your favourite music to listen to when at home?

I actually listen to the radio when home! Yep! True listener.

What is one track that never gets old for you no matter how many times you hear it?

Anything Adele.

What is one track that was popular that you can’t stand?

Never been a Maroon Five fan.

If you could eternally be stuck in one year’s music scene, which year would it be?

2000’s dance music.

What’s one thing your listeners would be surprised to hear about yourself or your life?

I don’t watch TV at all (besides Game of Thrones – I catch up online the next day! Too much to do at night plus I like to go to bed at 8 pm and get up at 3:20 am to fit in some exercise.

What’s been your proudest moment?

Give backs – being able to help people that listen to the show is fulfilling.

Who or what inspires you?

Busy people that are fiercely determined.

Do you have any predictions for the future of radio?

Everything will be streamed visually but that’s more of a reality than a prediction.

Do you have any plans for the next 12 months?

To go on The Block ha ha.
