With the news that the Brisbane Ekka has been cancelled [during the pandemic], we found some royal show-inspired activities for you to try at home:

ClassBento

ClassBento has virtual classes, craft boxes and indoor activities ideal for anyone in lockdown or stuck at home. You can enjoy learning watercolour painting, make your own unique mug, calligraphy, brush lettering, paint and sip at home, air dry pottery, cocktail-making class with trivia, DIY terrarium and kokedama. You can also learn magic tricks for beginners and undertake a virtual crime scene investigation. https://classbento.com.au/

Decorate Cookies, Cupcakes and Cake Kits

Lollipop Cake Supplies has created a set of Ekka showbags to pay tribute to and commemorate the event. You’ll receive everything you need for decorating cookies, cupcakes and drip cake.  https://www.lollipopcakesupplies.com.au/

Showbags Online

After you have purchased your favourite showbags online and have them delivered to your home, you might never buy them at the show again! Who needs the hassle of carrying the heavy things back to the train or your car?

  • Mr Showbags: https://mrshowbags.com.au/
  • Showbags.com.au: https://www.showbags.com.au/
  • Showbag Warehouse: https://showbagwarehouse.com.au/

Party Decorations and Food Ideas

If you’d like to set up a royal show vibe at home, then look out for Typo’s mini vending machines and desktop water dispensers. Serve up your favourite Ekka food at home.

You can buy party food including Dagwood dogs, crumbed sausage, lasagna toppers, potato scallops, churros and lamingtons from the Brisbane Party Food Shop.

Stone & Wood has released a Strawberry Kisses brew. It’s a traditional Berliner Weisse, with real strawberries, lactose, and vanilla for a creamy mouth feel. Inspired by the show’s strawberry sundaes. This beer supports The Common Good who help fund research at The Prince Charles Hospital. Better yet, you can drive through and buy your beer from the source without leaving your car. https://stoneandwood.com.au/

Please share how you are celebrating The Ekka at home on social media with the hashtag #theekkaathome. Please leave a comment and let us know how you’ve recreated The Ekka at home:
