We visited Flippin the Chicken a few weeks after it just opened. It’s a cheeky name for a fried chicken shop.
You might be familiar with the name as it started out as a popular fried chicken food truck. It’s now opened its doors on the corner of East Street in the Fortitude Valley.
I tucked into the gluten-free fried chicken over crispy thick waffles. The crispy maple bacon was a highlight. The seasoning is super yummy.
My dining partner tried one of their signature dishes – the F.T.B Burger. Think a buttermilk-fried chicken breast, maple bacon, fresh apple slaw, habanero mustard and Texas BBQ sauce. Or be tempted by truffled mac and cheese.
There is also salads like Cajun rice and sides like classic chips, haloumi fries, cream cheese loaded Jalapeno Poppers, beer-battered pickles and sweet potato wedges.
You can order a whole chicken and sides as an easy meal to take home to feed the tribe.
The free-range chicken is sourced from Elgin Valley. It is fried fresh on demand and the sauces are made in-house.
The decor is modern and fresh – look for the black and yellow logo and you’ll know you have found the right place.
Available on Deliveraroo and UberEats.
