Fat Noodle is Luke Nguyen’s first restaurant in Brisbane and is located in the front corner of the Treasury Brisbane building. It is based on the Sydney restaurant of the same name.

‘Fun, funky and dynamic Asian street food with hawker style concept’ – said Luke.

The Star Stradbroke Racing Carnival season menu

Chef Luke Nguyen has been announced as the official Culinary Ambassador for the 2023 The Star Stradbroke Racing Carnival season. Luke has designed an exclusive menu that pays homage to his heritage, whilst heroing some of Queensland’s best seasonal produce. The dishes are available at both the racecourse and Luke’s Fat Noodle at Treasury for a limited time only.

You can enjoy:

  • Franklin Harbour Pacific Oysters topped with a traditional tamarind nuoc cham and fried shallots
  • smoky Grilled Lemongrass and Chilli Calamari with mango and mint salsa
  • Wok Tossed Black Angus Beef with vermicelli noodles and fresh herbs
  • colourful Chicken and Purple Cabbage Salad with Vietnamese mint and perilla
  • Vietnamese Coffee Crème Caramel

Fat Noodle will be showcasing the exclusive dishes from Thursday 01 June through to Sunday 11 June 2023.

For entre, we devoured delicious Peking Duck with paper-thin steamed pancakes and chicken dumplings. If you want to impress there is a whole Peking Duck for a cool one hundred.

The first time we visited I enjoyed his signature dish of 20-hour Fat Pho noodles. A light but flavour-packed broth and fresh ingredients. It was so good, I reordered on my second visit.

Luke’s Vietnamese chicken salad is rumoured to be a satisfying combination and one of the most popular dishes.

My dining partner was keen to try the fried barramundi – which looks amazing on the plate. Last time he enjoyed the Singapore Laksa and couldn’t fault either dish.

For dessert, we managed to share a chai panna cotta filled with milk chocolate mousse and a tangy orange sauce.

Tip: There is an express menu for city workers wanting a quick lunch or anyone in a hurry. The yum cha menu is available only in the afternoon on a weekday.

Fat Noodle uses Australian East Coast prawns, Angus-reared beer, sustainably caught fish and no MSG. There are some dish options for vegetarians and low gluten.

The service was fast and efficient.

For more information and seasonal specials and to view the menu head to the Fat Noodle website.
